The Jackson Public Works Department challenges its residents to Walk Jackson starting June 1.
The Walk Jackson Challenge 2020 aims to educate residents about their wards and Public Works while encouraging everyone to get out and learn their Ward while getting some exercise. Residents are asked to report any issues they see with Jackson streets, water, electric, stormwater, or wastewater utilities to the Public Works Department at (573) 243-2300.
To complete the challenge, you must record at least 25 miles in just under 7 weeks on a mileage tracking sheet. You can also attempt to complete the equivalent of the entire city: 133 miles. Walkers should be safe and respect everyone else’s right to be safe during COVID-19 by maintaining a safe distance. Please be aware of your surroundings and wear bright colors while walking.
The Walk Jackson Challenge 2020 begins Monday, June 1 and runs 7 weeks through Friday, July 17.
Starting Monday, May 18 there will be a pre-event registration at www.jacksonmo.org. Participants can fill out the registration form and print out the official rules and mileage tracking sheet. You can also pick up the forms at public works in Jackson City Hall. The first 50 registrants will receive a free Walk Jackson Challenge 2020 t-shirt.
