State Employees Will Get A Four-Day July 4 Weekend, Thanks to An Executive Order By Gov. Parson

Southeast Missouri State University

State office employees will be able to sleep in after their late-into-the-night firework shows.

Gov. Mike Parson will be shutting down all state offices on July 5th, a week from today, in observance of the Independence Day celebrations taking place the day before. State employees also have July 4th off.

“The Fourth of July reminds us of the freedoms we cherish as Americans and the brave men and women who have fought to preserve this great country,” Parson said. “Thank you to our state team members for everything you do for Missouri, and may God continue to bless you all.”

Gov. Parson is currently out-of-state following a Eurpoean trade mission, but he intends to sign an executive order on July 3rd regarding the day off.

Southeast Missouri State University offices will also be closed, and face-to-face classes will not be in session on Thursday, July 4 or Friday, July 5.

Southeast Pres. Carlos Vargas said he hopes the day off will allow employees to enjoy extra time with family and friends.
