Humane Society Of Southeast Missouri Recieves Petco Grant, Allows Adoption Fees To Be Lowered By $50

The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri is temporarily lowering its adoption fees, thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Petco Foundation. The fees will be reduced by $50 for each animal adopted. Lindsey Morales, development director at the shelter says instead of providing general care for the animals, which is something their normal operating budget works to cover, they wanted to help animals find their forever homes more easily.

“It’s just going to allow us to make sure that everyone can go home to families that that price, a lot of times, may be a hurdle for,“ said Morales.

She says 250 animals have been adopted so far as a result of the reduced cost. Adoption fees will be lowered from June 26th through July 9th. They do not apply to surgery costs.
