Today on KRCU’s Going Public, we’re talking about the Black Lives Matter movement with Dr. Shonta Smith, an assistant professor in the Department of Elementary, Early and Special Education at Southeast Missouri State University. We’ll talk about the purpose of the movement, why the phrase “All Lives Matter” is problematic, and how the Black Lives Matter movement has become an extension of the Black Panther Party of the late '60s. We’ll also discuss the challenges of the movement and if the concept of black on black crime fits into the conversation.
