Keeping our young, talented workers in the area is so important to the stability and future of our workforce.
Several years ago, the Chamber began a young professionals group as a result of input from our existing members. Many said their young workers struggled with ways to meet people and get involved in the local area. They wanted to make a difference and get more grounded in the community. The result was our formation of the Chamber Young Professionals.
The Chamber Young Professionals (or CYP) is an ever-growing group dedicated to young workers who are starting their careers. The CYP committee hosts a variety of professional development events including quarterly networking gatherings, community building events, and a young professionals summit. The CYP group is unique in our programming structure. You see, it is an open group where chamber membership is not required to participate. Anyone interested in receiving more information about opportunities should contact Taylor Laws at the Cape Chamber.
One upcoming event that promises to be interesting is CYP Elevate for Politics & Religion – Let’s Have a Conversation. As we all know, discussions about sensitive topics can get out of hand quickly. We believe they don’t have to. We invite you to join us on August 9th at 4:30 p.m., at Katy O’Ferrell’s, for the panel discussion on how to handle sticky situations both in and out of the workplace.
