www.backgroundnow.com

Police in southern Illinois have ended a four-day standoff with two men in rural Johnson County.

Seventy-nine year old Charles Averitt and 74-year old Clarence Averitt barricaded themselves inside a residence on Old Cypress Road near Vienna after police arrived on a domestic disturbance call, according to the Illinois State Police.

State police sent a SWAT team and crisis negotiators to the scene. They were safely apprehended Tuesday night after several days of verbal negotiation from outside the residence.

Both men are charged with Aggravated Assault On A Peace Officer. Other charges are pending as the investigation continues.
