KRCU Public Radio Will Air 'The Emergence of Linda Ronstadt' On Sunday, Dec. 15

On Sunday, Dec. 8, the Kennedy Center presented its 42nd annual honors for lifetime achievement in the arts. Among several recipients - such as actress Sally Field, band Earth Wind and Fire, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, and television showSesame Street - was singer Linda Ronstadt.

Widely considered as one of the “most versatile vocalists of the modern era,” the 73-year-old’s career spanned four decades before her retirement in 2009. Her repertoire covered everything from country to big band, Rock ‘n’ Roll to opera, and Broadway standards to Afro-Cuban influenced music.

In a special hosted by Paul Ingles, Ronstadt’s remarkable and varied performing career will be explored by a panel of her friends, music writers, musicians, and fans this Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. on KRCU. You can hear hits and deep album cuts from all her many genre explorations, as well as commentary from Peter Asher, JD Souther, Maria Muldaur, John Boylan, and Linda herself.
