All About Cape: Celebrating the Cape Capahas

Visit Cape

Since baseball season is in full swing right now, I want to give a shout-out to the Cape Capahas. The Capahas, semipro baseball team has been a part of Cape Girardeau’s sports traditions since 1894. This season marks the team’s 125th year of pitching, catching and home runs.

The Capahas are a semipro amateur team, but they’re very good at what they do. Since 1980 alone, the Capahas have won 20 state and regional titles. In 2018 – during their first season in the Mon-Clair Baseball League – the team won in their division and had the best league record overall. They also have bragging rights due to their induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

The next home game is a doubleheader against the Millstadt Green Machine team on Sunday, July 14th. Start times are 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Don’t miss the opportunity to support this legendary local team during their historic 125th season.

Can’t wait until July for live sports? Watch future stars in action during the girls softball Stars Elite Invitational on June 29th and 30th at Shawnee Park. Or catch a fast-paced basketball game at the Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament on June 29th and 30th at the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex.
