Grab your swimsuit and sunglasses. It’s time to hit the water park. The original idea for waterslides came from the Midwest, when Minnesota resident Herbert Sellner built a wooden structure that emptied into water. In 1923, it was called the Water-Toboggan Slide. Herbert later invented the beloved carnival ride known as the Tilt-A-Whirl. This guy knew how to have fun.
Cape Splash is bringing fun and excitement with a no-kids-allowed Adult Beach Bash on Thursday, June 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. That’s two hours of sun, swimming and barreling down triple drop and open flume waterslides. Plus, admission entitles you to food, drinks and music. Don’t miss your chance to attend one of Cape’s hottest summer parties.
For kid-approved fun, throw on your grass skirt for a Cape Splash luau from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22nd, designed for kids eight and under. The luau originated in Hawaii in 1819, when King Kamehameha the Second allowed commoners to eat with royals during a feast of local delicacies. Since then, the luau has spread beyond Hawaii’s borders and become a beloved tradition around the world.
At Cape Splash, kids will limbo, hula hoop and hang out by the tropical paradise pool. And they’ll still enjoy their favorite water features, like the splash pad and pirate ship.
Also this week, Tunes at Twilight will again fill Ivers Square with live music on Friday, June 21st at 7 p.m. Stop by to take part in one of the traditions of the Cape Girardeau community.
