You’ll soon have a chance to see up-and-coming young artists in this region at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri's 33rd Annual 8th Congressional District High School Art Competition.

An exhibition will take place this Friday, May 3rd with a variety of art, including drawings, printmaking, paintings, computer-generated art, and photographs.

The event will take place from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Arts Council at 16 N. Spanish Street in downtown Cape Girardeau.

A later reception will recognize the top ten finalists from all the students in the 8th District who participated, and it will also announce the best in show.

Two of the ten finalists will go on to have their work displayed at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.

Congressman Jason Smith will be hosting the reception on May 13th as well, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
