Twenty-nine locations are joining in on the fun in this year’s 24th Annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive. The event is a family-oriented self-conducted tour that allows people of all ages to enjoy several southeast Missouri attractions. Participants can choose stops in Perry, Scott, Cape and Bollinger counties on the scenic drive April 26-27.
Music, food, dancing and crafts are just a few things visitors will get to enjoy throughout drive. Historic sites include the Glenn House in Cape Girardeau and the Wash House in Uniontown.
Other locations the family can experience are The Pie Safe Bakery and Cafe in Pocahontas and Lazy L Safari in Cape Girardeau. The Pinecrest Azalea Gardens, located west of Oak Ridge has over 500,000 plants in the drive-thru garden.
Bollinger Mill State Historic Site is also a participant of the scenic drive and will be giving tours of the Mill both days. Leslie McDaniel, site administrator said, “We are planning to have Vicky Jackson from the Hunter Dawson State Historic Site demonstrate candle making and how candles were made years and years ago.”
