The 442s Offer a Unique Sound

An exciting new musical group, the 442s, won’t be fooling around on Tuesday, April 1 when they visit Cape Girardeau to conduct workshops for students throughout the day and to give a concert performance at 7:30 that evening in the Shuck Recital Hall on the River Campus.

A contemporary string band made up of players from the St. Louis Symphony and the world of Jazz, the group specializes in blending musical genres.  They’ll also be bringing with them the talented jazz vocalist, Erin Bode.

I talked by phone to one of the members of the group, the cellist Bjorn Ranheim, to learn more about the group, how it got started, and the music they’ll be performing while on campus.

Tom Harte is a retired faculty member from Southeast Missouri State University where he was an award-winning teacher, a nationally recognized debate coach, and chair of the department of Speech Communication and Theatre.
