Rams Lose QB Bradford For Season

St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams' Sam Bradford attempts a pass against the Carolina Panters on October 20, 2013.

The St. Louis Rams will have to endure the rest of the season without quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford is out for the year after suffering an ACL injury in his left knee during Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters Monday that Bradford will undergo knee surgery next month.

“You typically want to wait until the swelling is reduced and there’s a range of motion and strength back in the quad so it will be down in the next two to three weeks,” Fisher said. “It’s a very difficult loss for us, especially for him. He was playing very, very well.”

Backup Kellen Clemens will start the Rams next game against their division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.

Fisher said the team is searching for at least one quarterback to replace Bradford on the roster, and may even bring in two.

Quarterback Tim Tebow’s name has been mentioned by the NFL Network as a potential replacement. Fisher declined to mention any specific quarterback by name.

“There’s a lot of speculation out there and everybody is talking and everybody knows more than we do right now. Trust me, we have a process in place and we are going through that process right now,” Fisher said.

Fisher said Bradford’s replacement will not come via trade.
