Cape Girardeau Roller Girls Host First Bout On Saturday

Cape Girardeau Roller Girls

The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls will host their first derby of the year Saturday evening.

Four or five leagues from the Tri-State area will compete at the A.C. Brase Arena in Cape Girardeau. Doors open at 6 with matches starting at 7.

This season will last from February to November and will feature several traveling bouts. President Sue Bob Fight is looking forward to the new start.

“This season we're traveling a whole lot. Last year we did not travel very often. We have 13 bouts, and I believe 6 of them are at home, so all the rest of them are traveling. So that's going to be really awesome,” Fight said.

Fight said they are also looking to expand the team.

“We're always taking new members. We're actually doing open recruitment right now. So anybody that's interested can email me, and we will get you some information,” Fight said. “Girls that skate on the team need to be female 18 and up. Referees, volunteers, and all of that, can be male or female. We're recruiting for all of those. We'll train you for any of those positions, and it's super fun.”

Tickets are $7 in advance and $9 at the door. For more information, visit their website at CapeGirardeauRollerGirls.com.
