MDC To Host Live Webcast Next Month On How To Attract Backyard Wildlife

Missouri Department of Conservaion

The Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting a live webcast next month on how to attract Missouri wildlife.

Several experts from the department, as well as Community Conservationist for the City of Columbia, Danielle Fox, will be sharing their suggestions on welcoming birds and other creatures to your own backyard.

News Services Coordinator, Joe Jerek, says one of the key things they’ll be discussing is the importance of planting native plants to provide habitats and food for different species.

“If spring ever finally gets here, this is really a great time for folks to be thinking about their backyards and what to plant,” said Jerek.

He says if you aren’t familiar with the webcast process, it’s simple. You can watch the wild webcast by logging onto your computer or smart device at the time of the webcast, and get email reminders on the event upon registration.

Viewers will also have the opportunity to ask questions, and have them answered by the experts live.

You can watch the “Wild Webcast” on backyard wildlife Wednesday, May 16 from noon to 1 p.m. It’s the first of several “Wild Webcasts” to be hosted by the department this year - another will be held on  Dec. 5, noon to 1 p.m. for Bald Eagles and Eagle Days.
