For the first time in school history, Southeast Missouri's Department of Athletics has won the Ohio Valley Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award.
The overall Institutional Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to the member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes that earn a 3.25 grade point average or higher for that academic year.
SEMO had over 75 percent of its student-athletes earn the honor in 2025-26. In total, 197 Redhawk student-athletes made the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll for achieving the 3.25 GPA.
Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Barke said that the recognition is a reflection of the commitment and hard work of Redhawk student-athletes and the coaches and staff who support them. He said that he is incredibly proud of the culture of academic excellence that has been built at SEMO and the way student-athletes continue to represent the university both in competition and in the classroom.
In addition to the institutional award, 58 Redhawk student-athletes won the OVC Academic Medal of Honor, given to the student-athletes who achieve the highest-grade point average in a Conference-sponsored sport. Every Academic Medal of Honor recipient for the 2025-26 academic year carried a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The academic recognition comes on the heels of another OVC Commissioner’s Cup trophy for the Redhawks, given for competitive excellence across all conference sponsored sports.
