Two-Minute Drill: Redhawks Soccer Opens Its Season on Thursday, Aug. 13

The Southeast Missouri soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference 2026 women's soccer 'Predicted Order of Finish', the conference announced Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The Redhawks racked up 39 votes. Reigning co-champions Lindenwood tops the poll with 93 points. 

Players to Watch 

The OVC also released the Players to Watch, where midfielder Rachel Kretzer and defender Laia Amat were selected for the Redhawks.

Kretzer, a sophomore from Glen Carbon, Ill., returns after starting 17 games as a true freshman last season. She collected one assist against Little Rock on 9/25 last season. She played a total of 1490 minutes and had six shots. 

Amat, a senior from Sabadell, Spain, is in her second season at SEMO. Playing left back for the Redhawks in 2025 she dished out two assists on the season at Western Illinois on 10/9. She played in 16 games and started 12 while also playing 1042 minutes on the season. 

The Redhawks officially open their second season under the helm of St Louis Soccer Hall of Famer, head coach John Klein, next Thursday, Aug 13 when they host the SIU Salukis at Houck Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
