To say we now have a different perspective on daily life is an understatement.
We’re going to do a little reflection this week and I’ll highlight some things I see as very positive in the midst of all this uncertainty.
Just think, one year ago, for several months, all people wanted to talk about with the diverging diamond intersection at Center Junction and the massive disruption it would cause for businesses and the traveling public. We had no idea what could really cause issues for local businesses and virtually shut down the traveling public. However, the positive here is construction began, continues, and is moving along quite nicely as a result of the commitment of the workers and the drastically reduced traffic.
Prior to this year, if you would have told a group of people they could not meet together for any reason, or would have told a church they cannot hold services in person, or would have told private business owners they must close their businesses, there would have been a public outcry and lawsuits would have filled the courts. However, the positive here is people have put the lives of others ahead of all else until more is understood about the virus.
Many business owners had their livelihood yanked from them with virtually no warning. But again, so many have used innovative approaches and methods to at least survive, and in some cases thrive, in this new normal.
I strongly believe there are better days ahead.
