"Spring Into Dance" is Coming to the River Campus

The Bedell stage gets an international touch this weekend with three guest choreographers working with Southeast students for "Spring into Dance 2017."

I’m Ellen Farrow coming to you “From the Box Office” to share what’s on stage … what’s happening behind the scenes … and all the latest River Campus activities.

Cesar Salinas, Victor Alexander, and Maray Gutierrez come to the River Campus from some of the most notable national and international dance companies. These guest artists have racked up some impressive honors as well as remarkable resumes … and artistic coordinator Hilary Peterson says that access has been unbelievable for students, "Working with Cesar was a really great opportunity because it connected them to a company directly in Chicago. Having that personal interaction with a guest artist who works with a company in a major metropolitan area gets students more noticed when they go to see auditions and then also gets them more in-tune with that particular style so that they can be more successful when they run into it again in the future."

Those three aren’t the only guest artists on the program. To celebrate the tenth season of the River Campus, Peterson invited back some of the program’s grads to show their professional stuff in concert. Six alums will rotate throughout the weekend bringing talent and skill to the performance as well as tales from the working world to current students.

"Spring into Dance" opens April 6 at the River Campus.

Also … don’t forget when it comes to First Friday with the Arts … we’re your destination. The Crisp Museum and the River Campus art gallery both have exhibits opening this week. Salon des refuses showcases student art in various mediums and at the Crisp Museum … you can take in the annual juried student exhibition to view, and purchase, some of the work students have created this year. In addition to your viewing pleasure … enjoy the opening receptions as well.

For full details … show times … tickets and more head to RiverCampus.org… and I hope to see you soon at the box office.
