President Trump has called off his visit to Cape Girardeau.

Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. announced today via a press release that the ‘Make America Great Again’ rally scheduled to take place at the Show-Me-Center Thursday night has been canceled. The press release cited safety concerns with Hurricane Florence’s approach to the east coast later this week as the reasoning behind the cancellation.

“With Hurricane Florence on its way, we determined that this is the safest decision,” said Michael Glassner, Chief Operating Officer of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.

President Trump is slated to make a visit to Cape Girardeau for his national midterm campaign tour next week.

Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. announced today via a press release an upcoming MAGA rally to take place at the Show-Me-Center on  Thursday, September 13 at 6 p.m. This will be the third rally the President has hosted in Missouri since the start of his campaign in June 2015.

According to the press release, Trump plans on addressing the U.S. Senate race between Claire McCaskill and Josh Hawley, and protecting the GOP majorities in the House and Senate, as well as many other topics, including “the latest indicators of the booming Trump economy, his plans to secure our border, the Kavanagh confirmation hearings, the latest attacks by the fake news media, and more.”

Southeast President Dr. Carlos Vargas emailed the Southeast student body, faculty, and staff following the press release to clarify Southeast’s uninvolvement, and that holding the event at the Show-Me-Center is strictly a third-party rental agreement. Requirements and restrictions for parking, buildings, and facilities during the rally will be regulated by the U.S. Secret Service.

Monday, rally-goers recieved an email notification on a time change for the rally. The time of the event was changed from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., with doors opening at 3 p.m.
