Going Public: Jake Gerard, Cape Girardeau City Engineer, Talks About Progress of Summer and Fall 2025 Street Projects
Jake Gerard, City Engineer of Cape Girardeau, discussed road maintenance projects funded by the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF). The TTF, approved by voters last April, focuses on maintaining existing roads rather than new construction. Current projects include an 18-month overhaul of Lexington Street, a 12-month repair on Perryville, and a design-in-house project on South Sprigg Street.

Barney Hartline graduated from Cape Central High School in 1965 and from Southeast Missouri State University in 1969 with a degree in chemistry. In the 1960s, folk music was played on top-40 radio. Folk music sing-a-longs at a local pizza parlor were very popular with Southeast students in those days.
