The Missouri Department of Transportation says it will limit road construction starting at noon Friday and continuing over the three-day Labor Day weekend.

MODOT officials say statewide traffic fatalities are up compared to last year.  They’re urging motorists to use caution when traveling and to buckle up, obey speed limits and don’t use your phone while driving.

MODOT director, Patrick McKenna says incidents and fatalities are up more than 11 percent from this time last year.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers will be patrolling Missouri’s roadways enforcing Missouri’s speed-limit, seat-belt and impaired-driving laws, in addition to being available to assist motorists, according to a news release.

In 2019, there were 1,021 reported crashes over the Labor Day weekend in Missouri, nine of which were fatal.
