This week on KRCU’s Going Public, we’re talking about the new Read to Excel program with Elizabeth Shelton, the executive director of United Way of Southeast Missouri. Then, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens’ first legislative session is getting mixed reviews from lawmakers. Democrats and Republicans say the governor made a lot of missteps over the last four and a half months. We’ll hear whether Greitens’ relationship with the legislature may need some repair. And later on in the show, Missouri’s labor and legal climate will change dramatically due to Republican lawmakers approving sweeping policy changes during the 2017 session. W e’ll examine what this past session means for workers – and how opponents of these plans are fighting back.
