Memorial Day Weekend at Fort D Historic Site

Memorial Day Weekend at Fort D Historic Site

Spend Memorial Day Weekend at Fort D Historic Site on
Saturday, May 25, through Monday, May 27, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

First observed after the end of the Civil War, Memorial Day honors the memory of U. S. soldiers who have died in military service. Local re-enactors will honor the memory of veterans past and present.

May is also Historic Preservation Month, and Fort D is an early 20th century example of citizens seeking to preserve the past. As a special commemoration, the recently re-acquired 1861 Woodruff cannon, a veteran of the Civil War, will be fired at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day. Make Fort D your destination Memorial Day Weekend.

Admission is free.
