"Flesh and Bone" Art Exhibition

"Flesh and Bone" Art Exhibition

Flesh and Bone, an exhibition of works by Tony Stroemer-Mariotti, will be on view from Friday, March 1, through Friday, March 29, at The Nest Gallery in the Seminary Building on River Campus.

Stroemer-Mariotti was born in Petersburg, Illinois, a small town 30 minutes north of Springfield, Illinois. They are currently a junior working on a BFA in painting with a minor in psychology. They have always been artistically inclined, drawing anywhere they could, and began painting their junior year of high school. Stroemer-Mariotti explains that they, “paint and make art to express emotions that I keep suppressed, which I believe is a healthy way to vent these emotions.”

Flesh and Bone consists of emotionally charged works, created during times when Stroemer-Mariotti was experiencing extreme mental turbulence, relating to both positive and negative feelings. This exhibition intends to give viewers an insight into how they process these types of intense sensations.

An opening reception for Flesh and Bone will take place on Friday, March 1 from 5-7 pm.

The Nest Gallery is an intimate exhibition space reserved for students interested in solo or group exhibitions. It is located on the first floor of the Seminary Building. The Nest Gallery is open during regular University business hours. All gallery exhibitions, events, and talks are free and open to the public.
