Talented Young Performers to Take the Stage in "Legally Blonde, Jr."

Southeast Missouri State University

What’s more adorable than the Chihuahua from Legally Blonde? A cast of young performers taking over the roles, of course.

Legally Blonde, Jr., is a musical that retains the original’s sense of humor and self-empowerment themes, but condensed and re-envisioned for younger performers. We asked the director, Michelle Contrino, everything you need to know about what’s sure to be an entertaining production.

First off, it's a summer camp so students register and sign up. Everyone who registers will be cast in the show. We just figure out which role is best for them. And then students get to go through the entire process of what it's like to prepare for an audition, actually audition for the production team, the casting process, the rehearsal process and part of their activities that they get to do is they get to help design the set. One of their activities is going to be drawing and coloring regarding each scene that we're doing. Our production manager will be turning the children's pictures into slides and those will be our backdrops for our scenes.
The music and the storyline are fun, sassy, witty. I think it's a fun number for children to be in. I think's it's a wonderful musical for families to come and see this summer.

You can get your tickets now at RiverCampus.org and as always, I hope to see you soon at the Box Office!
