A last minute look at election issues in Missouri: By how much will Trump win in the state?

Missouri voters will consider a plethora of issues when they go to the polls on Tuesday.

In addition to casting ballots for president, governor and U.S. Senate, voters will consider myriad ballot measures such as Amendment 3Amendment 6Amendment 4 and Proposition A.

On Monday’s St. Louis on the Air, we heard from St. Louis Public Radio reporters Jo Mannies and Jason Rosenbaum about what they’re watching prior to the election.

The big question on their minds: Not if Donald Trump will win the presidential nomination in Missouri, but by how much? A matter of 10 percentage points could mean everything for down-ballot races in the state.

“It is anybody’s guess what the tipping point is,” Mannies told host Don Marsh. “The general wisdom is that if Trump wins by over 10, he could have coattails and that could help Republicans down the ballot. If he gets less than 10, which is what some major Democrats are banking on, that bodes really well for Jason Kander [a Democrat] in the Senate and could help Chris Koster against Eric Greitens for governor.”

The Kander-Blunt race for the Senate is a race that is being watched nationwide because it could help tip the balances in the Senate to a Democratic majority.

Rosenbaum, who this morning attended a Roy Blunt campaign stop in St. Louis County said Blunt is banking on a strong base in southwest Missouri, name recognition and that his organization is superior to the Democrats’.

I wouldn’t wager a penny on this race,” Rosenbaum said. “It will be as close it can be.”
