It is sports season! School is out and the calendars are marked with the practice and game schedule. Kids can have fun, feel relaxed, take risk and grow when they participate in youth sports. So, you don’t have a child that plays? Believe me -- the teams love it when the community comes out and cheers them on.
What is your sport of choice? Cape Girardeau is sure to have something to hit the spot! At the Shawnee Park complex there is 120 acres of sports fun. The Knights of Columbus National Softball Tournament has played there. If the temperature gets to you the Cape Sportsplex is 121,000 square feet of premier municipal indoor sports. The Sporstplex is filled with sports activities from batting cages, soccer fields, basketball and volleyball. That’s just two of the sporting complexes here in Cape Girardeau. We also have the Osage Center, Show Me Center, Houck Stadium, Capaha Park Fields and Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex.
If you are visiting you are sure to find a sporting event to experience during your stay! After a full day of sports you may need to kick back and relax! Tunes at Twilight is just the place and Friday the soulful guitar player Lawrence Redding will take the stage. Redding is known for his ability to vocally imitate trombones, bass and percussion and incorporate them into his live musical performances.
