All About Cape: SEMO Homecoming 2018

Visit Cape

To all you SEMO alums in town for homecoming weekend, welcome back. We’re looking forward to the Saturday game, with all the food and fun that comes with it.

If you haven’t been in town since last year, you’ll notice a few changes. As you’re visiting familiar hangouts downtown, stroll along the streets to find new boutiques, antique shops and eateries, some offering homecoming specials. The downtown area is flowing with new flavors you haven’t tasted before – including Cape Girardeau exclusive beers and wines guaranteed to start homecoming week off right. Be sure to say hi to Beaver; this local legend is still serving drinks.

On the other side of town, Cape West Cinema has undergone significant changes since the days when you used your Southeast ID for discounts. Instead of uncomfortable stadium seats, you’ll watch the latest movies from heated leather recliners. And the concessions go far beyond regular theater food, with burgers and pizza or drinks at the Take Five lounge – all inside the theater.

If you plan to eat out beforehand, you don’t have to drive all the way across town anymore. Several restaurants have opened along Siemers Drive, so you’ll find what you’re craving without missing the beginning of the movie.

But we all know the real reason you’re here: because you’re a loyal Southeast fan. Saturday morning, October thirteenth, opens with the Now That’s What I Call Southeast parade at nine thirty. With floats, frats and marching bands, it’s guaranteed to get you ready for football – and give you a sugar buzz from all the candy you grab. Kickoff is at one pm against Austin Peay, but be sure you take time to meet up with old friends and make new ones. Happy tailgating, and go Redhawks!
