TED Talks have generated some of the most immensely sharable media among a certain well-connected segment of the population. Speakers at TED conferences famously tackle big topics like neuroscience, the origins of fear, and the mathematics of love. The TED Radio Hour from NPR adapts these talks for radio, weaving clips of speakers on the stage with interview segments that delve deeper into their topics. A new season of The TED Radio Hour begins the weekend of March 6th.
In an interview with KRCU's Jason Brown, Guy Raz talks about the next season of The TED Radio Hour, shares some incite into the editorial process of the show, and even hints at what he'd like to talk about when he gets around to presenting a TED Talk himself.
The first episode of the new season is titled "Solve For X," and is about using numbers to solve problems. Guests include Randall Munroe of the web comic xkcd, Kevin Slavin, professor at the MIT Media Lab, and Hannah Fry, a mathematician at the University College London.
Another episode in the next season is titled "Press Play" and explores the benefits of play, particularly with regards to creativity, collaboration, and health. Guest speakers include game designer Jane McGonigal, comedian Charlie Todd, and play researcher Stuart Brown.
The Ted Radio Hour airs Saturday afternoons at 3:00 and Tuesday nights at 7:00 on KRCU.
