If your sweet tooth keeps you dreaming of syrup and hotcakes, this week offers the perfect holiday: National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 12. The Lions Club is hosting their Pancake Day on Wednesday, March 13 at the A.C. Brase Arena. This event has been a tradition for 81 years, one of the longest continuous annual pancake days in the United States.
Another annual Cape tradition – the Heartland Home and Garden Show – takes over the Show Me Center from March 15- 17, 2019. More than 100 vendors display everything from landscaping to fresh produce and more. Start planning for spring with giveaways and discounts on the trendiest products.
If you’re more of a sports fan than a gardener, the Reebok Cape Girardeau Madness Super Showcase is bringing the Midwest tournament series to town on March 16 and 17. Up-and-coming players from first through twelfth grades show their skills at the SportsPlex as they compete for trophies, medals and the ultimate victory: the coveted MVP award. See these young stars in action at the beginning of their careers.
Ending the week, Cape Girardeau’s restaurants and bars are gearing up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be Irish Shenanigan Saturday Night a Funfest with live music and special deals all evening. Or stop by a local spot to indulge in authentic Irish dishes – everything from shepherd’s pie to corned beef and cabbage.
