Students in Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will offer a mix of pieces in "Spring into Dance 2013" including ballet, contemporary movement and they'll incorporate live music from the Department of Music.

“Spring into Dance” will include a brilliant dance program of original pieces choreographed by faculty members, guest professionals and students. The event will feature the work, “Caffeinated,” choreographed by New York City choreographer Larry Keigwin.

“Caffeinated” depicts the reality of a Starbucks on every corner and explores the jittery, over-energized movement that arises from too much caffeine. The dance uses a mix of cheerleading, ballet and contemporary movement to create a fast-paced and lively ride for the dancers and the audience.

Other works in the concert include a piece by faculty member and artistic coordinator Hilary Peterson, “For Those Who Have Loved and Lost.” The work uses well known songs by country music icon Patsy Cline to explore the world of relationships.

“Spring into Dance 2013” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. April 18-20 and at 2 p.m. April 21 on the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall stage at Southeast’s River Campus. Tickets are available at the River Campus Box Office by calling (573) 651-2265 and at RiverCampusEvents.com
