Believe it or not, it’s baseball season. And Opening Day for the Redhawks is here.

The SEMO Baseball team opens its season today, as Western Michigan comes to town for a three-game series. And before the season even began, the Redhawks have already started racking in national recognition.

The Redhawks Football team had a lot to celebrate Wednesday, as it welcomed 32 new student-athletes to the SEMO Football family on National Signing Day. Five of the signees are already on campus this semester and will participate in spring drills.

Finally, after being sidelined several weeks following a gruesome t-shirt cannon accident, SEMO’s beloved mascot Rowdy the Redhawk made his much anticipated return last weekend. Following extensive reconstructive surgery and exhaustive rehab, Rowdy revealed his brand new look to fans during halftime of the SEMO men’s basketball game vs. Eastern Illinois on Saturday.

Once again, freshman Anna Kaziska was named Midwest Independent Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The accolade marks the second consecutive week Kaziska has earned the award.

The freshman from Louisville, Kentucky, captured two event titles in Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics home opener Friday at Houck Field House against San José State.
