Make that four weeks in a row. Southeast Missouri picked up another Ohio Valley Conference honor when senior wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season Sunday.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Wilkerson caught 10 passes for an OVC single-game high 254 yards and two touchdowns in SEMO's 38-31 come-from-behind victory over Eastern Kentucky. He averaged 25.4 yards per catch and scored on receptions of 68 and 45 yards. Wilkerson's 254 yards marked the second-most receiving yards in a game in the Football Championship Subdivision this season.
The Redhawks overcame a 17-point deficit by scoring 24 unanswered points to beat the Colonels.
Wilkerson ranks among the OVC's all-time leaders in career receiving touchdowns (t2nd, 32), career receptions (t10th, 199) and career receiving yards (4th, 3,275). He also went over 1,000 receiving yards (1,085) this season.
He earned College Football Performance Awards FCS Honorable Mention National Performer of the Week honors, as well.
The Redhawks are now ranked 15th in the nation in the STATS FCS media poll, and are tied in first place in the OVC standings. A pair of wins in the final two games of the season will guarantee SEMO with at least a share of the OVC regular season title.
SEMO will play at Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon.
