Two-Minute Drill: Redhawks Soccer Shines in the Classroom and on the Pitch

Southeast Athletics

Southeast Missouri ranked 13th in the nation in grade point average after posting a 3.66 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year, earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.

SEMO had five student-athletes receive the OVC Medal of Honor with 4.0 GPAs last year: Bri Caccavale, Kate Daus, Emily Holten, Katie Lever and Morgan McCourt. There were 20 women's soccer student-athletes honored on the Commissioner's Honor Roll after posting at least a 3.25 GPA in one season of competition.

Meanwhile, on the field the Redhawks soccer team continued to have success.

Southeast Missouri's Bailey Redden was named Ohio Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week last week.

The Belleville, Illinois native recorded 14 saves for the week, allowing just one goal in 197 minutes in net. Redden recorded her second shutout of the season against regional-rival Southern Illinois on Oct. 6.

In all, Redden has made 78 saves and allowed 20 goals this season. Her .785 save percentage ranks third in the OVC this season. Thanks to Redden’s work in goal, the Redhawks lead the league with the fewest goals allowed in all games this season.

The Redhawks currently sit in first place in the OVC with 18 points, boasting a 6-1 record in league play. They have won their last four consecutive matches.

SEMO will return to action this Sunday at UT Martin. The game can be streamed live on ESPN+.
