Two-Minute Drill: Redhawks Headed to Kentucky for NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship

Southeast Athletics

Southeast Missouri women's volleyball (23-10) will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, to face #9 Kentucky (23-6) in the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.

Southeast will take on the Wildcats in the second of two matches Friday evening. Northern Kentucky (19-12) and Michigan (20-10) will compete in the first match Friday at 4 p.m. Both of Friday's winners will advance to the second round on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Redhawks were an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament after they won the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship in Jacksonville, Alabama, on Nov. 23, in a three-set sweep of Morehead State.

SEMO makes its sixth NCAA Championship appearance all-time and will compete in the postseason for the first time since 2000. The Redhawks 23 wins this year are the most since that 2000 season.

Four members of the SEMO women's volleyball team were named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team, announced prior to the OVC Volleyball Tournament

Junior middle blocker Maggie Adams and junior outside hitter Laney Malloy both earned First-Team All-OVC honors while sophomore setter Claire Ochs and freshman libero Tara Beilsmith both were named to the Second-Team All-OVC.

The Redhawks and Wildcats will play at 6:30 p.m. Central Time Friday evening, and the game can be watched live on SEC Network+.
