Two-Minute Drill: Knott Named OVC Co-Female Runner of the Week, Redhawks Go 7-0

Junior Carli Knott was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Female Runner of the Week after finishing as runner-up at the Bradley Intercollegiate last Friday. The Southeast Missouri women's cross country team placed second overall in the competition.

The Jackson, Missouri native, finished second out of 213 runners in the three mile race with a personal-best mark of 17:26.5. She currently has the fastest time for three miles in the conference.

Knott, a 2018 All-OVC performer, has opened the 2019 campaign with two top-five finishes. The honor marks the first career weekly conference accolade for Knott and first for SEMO women's cross country since 2016. Knott is also the first Southeast student-athlete to grab OVC Weekly honors during the 2019-20 school year.

In addition to success on the cross country course last week, the Redhawks other Fall sports finished last week with a perfect 7-0 record. The SEMO Volleyball team defeated regional rival Saint Louis University last Tuesday, and then capped of its week by winning the Beale Street Challenge, including handing host Memphis their first loss of the 2019 season. Volleyball continued their winning ways earlier this week, with a victory over UT Martin at home.

The football team thrilled on Family weekend with a 56-10 victory over West Virginia State, and the SEMO Soccer team picked up a pair of OVC wins at home – defeating Belmont 2-1 on Friday, and EIU 1-0 on Sunday.

The football team has a bye this week, while the soccer, volleyball, and cross country team will hit the road to try and continue the Redhawks 8-game all-sport winning streak.
