Two-Minute Drill: Brad Korn Introduced as Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Southeast Athletics

Director of Athletics Brady Barke named Brad Korn the new head men's basketball coach at Southeast Missouri earlier this week. Korn was formally introduced on Tuesday during a virtual press conference streamed live on Facebook.

The seventh head coach in SEMO's NCAA Division I men's basketball era, Korn agreed to a five-year contract.

Barke described Korn as a winner with an incredible knack for building relationships with student-athletes, while developing them both on and off the court. Korn spent the last four years at Big 12 Conference member Kansas State as an assistant coach for Bruce Weber, helping the Wildcats to 82 wins and three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Overall, Korn has 15 years of Division I experience, which includes time at his alma mater – Southern Illinois (2004-12) and a stint at Missouri State.

Korn played college basketball at Southern Illinois, including four seasons playing for Weber, helping the Salukis through one of their greatest periods of success from 1999 to 2004. As a student-athlete, he was a part of three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and three Missouri Valley Conference regular season championships.

After graduation, he worked eight years (2004-12) on the staff at SIU. During that time, the Salukis had four more postseason appearances, two MVC championships and one MVC Tournament title. The squad advanced to the NCAA Tournament on three occasions (2005, 2006, 2007) during his tenure as an assistant coach, including a 2007 trip to the Sweet 16.

Korn and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters, Brielyn and Ashtyn.
