Two-Minute Drill: Baseball Adds Two to Coaching Staff

SEMO Athletics

Southeast Missouri State Head Baseball Coach Andy Sawyers announced that former Redhawk great Trevor Ezell and Drew Millwood have joined his staff.

Ezell is joining the staff as the Director of Offensive Player Development while Millwood will serve as the Director of Analytics. Both will handle a variety of administrative duties including: stat compilation, analytical breakdown, video analysis, and scouting.

Ezell returns to SEMO after a two-year stint in Minor League baseball. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays in the summer of 2019 after a trip to the College World Series at the University of Arkansas.

Ezell spent four years at SEMO before wrapping up his career at Arkansas. While at SEMO, he garnered both All-OVC Second Team and First-Team honors. In four years, Ezell started in 181 games tallying 251 hits, 194 runs, 128 RBI, 48 stolen bases and 45 doubles. He boasted a .336 batting average, .495 slugging percentage and .967 fielding percentage in his career as a Redhawk.

Millwood was an assistant coach at Rend Lake Junior College in Illinois. He was responsible for the hitters and was Recruiting Coordinator with the Warriors. Millwood's only season at Rend Lake was cut short due to COVID-19.

Prior to Rend Lake, Millwood was Head Coach and Athletic Director at Wayne City High School and worked as Head Baseball Coach at Webber Township High School. In those roles, he helped grow and develop the baseball team as well as the overall athletic programming for the schools.

Millwood began his coaching career as the owner and operator of one of the largest sports training facilities in Southern Illinois where he worked with a diverse population of athletes ranging from kids and weekend warriors to Division I collegiate athletes and Cross-Fit and OCR competitors.
