This Summer at the Caffe Concerto

Hot weather is upon us and the Caffe Concerto is serving up music this summer to help keep you cool.  We’ll continue to dish up some of the latest classical music CDs, such as the one featuring, believe it or not, music composed for video games.  The genre features some surprisingly good stuff.  In fact, in some cases you might be hard pressed to distinguish between a piece composed for a video game and one written one hundred years ago by a famous composer.

But we won’t neglect our menu mainstays--Haydn piano trios, Beethoven symphonies, Mozart sonatas, and concertos of every kind, including those for piano, guitar, trumpet, flute, violin, and even the marimba.  And this summer on Fridays Paul Thompson will continue to offer his new feature:  entire hour-long menus devoted to a single artist.  We’ll also celebrate the birthdays of composers, whether well known or obscure.  Both Bach and Stravinsky have birthdays in June, Mahler in July, Debussy in August, and Pachelbel in September.

The Caffe Concerto at Schnucks cooking demonstrations are taking a break this summer, but will resume in the fall.  If you missed any of the recipes from this season such as the orange chocolate cupcakes, the agnolotti with peas and goat cheese, or the olive soup--all big hits--you can download them from our website.
