Left Of The Dial #601 - A Human Voice Underneath

Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer is not just an immensely enjoyable fusion of pop, hiphop, and R&B, but it's a multilayered sci-fi epic. Like the best science fiction, it has much to say about about society, specifically with regards to race, gender, and sexual orientation. The album has a visual component, in the form of what Monae has dubbed an "emotion picture."

Skating Polly have a song called "Queen for a Day," named for a ridiculous '50's and '60s era TV game show where women would express their hardships on stage to earn audience applause for prizes.

Scott Hutchison, RIP

Left of the Dial airs Friday nights from 9-11 and Saturdays from noon-2pm on KRCU.

Thanks, Pete :)
