Alyssa Phares, with Visit Cape, spoke with KRCU Public Radio about two events which will be held in Downtown Cape, on Sat. May 1st.

The first, and inaugural event is the Muddy River Marathon, which begins with the first group of runners at 7 a.m. on Mainstreet and runs throughout the city.

The second, and ongoing annual event-- now for over 10 years, is the Cape Riverfront Market. It offers fresh produce, locally raised meats, assorted baked goods, artisan crafts, and options for breakfast and lunch, and is open from 8 a.m. to Noon, every Saturday throughout the spring and summer in the parking lot at 35 South Spanish Street.

The demonstration will feature a presentation by the Historic Preservation Commission and Old Town Cape. Music will be provided by Ivas John.

John is a proud 2006 Alum of Southeast Missouri State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication – Radio option, with a minor in Management. He has been a life-long listener of KRCU Public Radio, but began his radio career as a student DJ on Rage 103.7 KDMC-LP in 2003.
