All About Cape: Summer Events Starting Up

Visit Cape

Summer events and activities are kicking into high gear. And that means one of Cape’s favorite traditions is back: Tunes at Twilight in Ivers Square.  On May 17 at 7 pm a blend of soulful, R&B and pop sounds by guitarist Paul Childers feels the air. But it will also be filled with some high flying pilots. The Blue Angels.

The Blue Angels didn’t fly all the way here for a concert, though. They are in town for the Cape Girardeau Air Festival on May 18 and 19 at the Cape Regional Airport. This is an elite crew of 16 Navy officers who perform jaw-dropping flying demonstrations.  They complete loops, barrel rolls and the Diamond 360, which requires them to fly their jets within 18 inches of each other.  This is an air show you do not want to miss!

Also representing the U.S. military are the Army Golden Knights. Since its formation, this world-class parachute team has broken around 350 records.  There is just too much to list, but it’s enough flying power and daredevil stunts to dazzle an audience for almost four hours – from 11:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Another large gathering will be at the Osage Centre on Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to noon for the Cape Parks and Recreation Spring Garage Sale. The goodies you find at a traditional yard sale, only there’s a ton of them in one place – just park and walk.
