All About Cape: The Missouri State Volleyball Tournament

Visit Cape

Need some competition in your weekend? How do 32 Volleyball matches sound?

The Missouri State Volleyball Tournament kicks off November 8 at 9 a.m. inside the Show Me Center where student athletes will go head to head, determined to be the next champion team.  I’m not kidding, folks.  These are the best of the best.  You’ll see high reflexes in a display of explosive strength and endurances. Who will take home the glory?  Attend both Friday and Saturday to find out.

Once the volleyball excitement has passed, don’t forget to make time to honor America’s veterans November 11.

Back in 1957, Cape recognized Veterans Day with a parade of former soldiers heading west on Broadway and ending at Capaha Park.  Many came to watch and honor the marching units which were led by groups from the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Veterans organizations.

Today, you can show your patriotism and pay tribute to the brave men and women who served our country by visiting the Avenue of Flags at Cape Girardeau County Park. Home to 700 United States flags, walking down the lane inspires gratitude and a moment of reflection.  Each flag represents a local veteran and serves as a reminder that our freedom has a cost.  You’re invited to watch the sun rise or set over the hills for an unforgettable experience.  North Park is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.  To any veterans listening, we are extremely grateful for you service.
