All About Cape: Fun for All Ages

Visit Cape

The Harlem Globetrotters may have left town, but basketball season is still in full swing for our high school teams and the Southeast Redhawks, who have January 24 and 26 home games.

But the place to see the youngest up-and-comers is at the Reebok Cape Girardeau Winter Slam Tournament on January 26 and 27 at the SportsPlex. Athletes between second and eighth grades take the court and go head-to-head for the championship. You may see future NBA or WNBA players at the start of their career.

If you’re in town for the tournament and are looking for kid-friendly places to take the team during downtime or you just want to stay warm and have fun, we’ve got a few suggestions.

Discovery Playhouse is one of Cape Girardeau’s children’s museums. Designed for kids six months and older, two floors of exhibits allow them to withdraw cash from a bank, grab snacks at a grocery store, learn about farm animals and so much more. You’re welcome to embrace your inner child and join in as well.

Or let the kids flip and tumble at Ultimate Air Trampoline Park. Join them as they jump into a sea of foam blocks or get enough air to slam dunk a basketball. It’s good practice for games. Plus, the littlest ones can run off some energy in special areas designed for their age groups.

If these places don’t appeal to you, Cape offers more tried-and-true indoor excitement, like catching a movie at Cape West Cinema, solving a mystery at Escape Cape or bowling at West Park Lanes.
