All About Cape: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

We hope that the luck of the Irish is with us all this week as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, March 17.

The history of this day dates all the way back to the fourth century. Based on the legacy of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patty’s day started as a religious celebration. As Irish immigrants made their way to the United States, the holiday transformed into the large, elaborate party that we celebrate today.

Why not celebrate the day in style at a local Irish pub? Stop by Katy O’Ferrell’s to indulge in authentic Irish dishes – everything from shepherd’s pie to corned beef and cabbage. Or grab a pint at one of the local breweries. No matter what you’re craving, Cape’s eateries and breweries offer something you’re sure to enjoy. Find a complete list at VisitCape.com/eat.

If that annual tradition isn’t enough, head out to see an annual Cape tradition – the Heartland Home and Garden Show – as it takes over the Show Me Center from March 20-22. More than 100 vendors display everything from landscaping to fresh produce and more. Start planning for spring with giveaways and discounts on the trendiest products.

We hope that warm, sunny weather will be here to stay so that you can start planting all of your new greenery and produce!
