Car enthusiasts and fans of classic cars are sure to be interested in the Smith Summer Classic Car Auction, coming to the Show Me Center on July 20th and 21. Vehicles on the auction block range from a 1929 Ford Model a Phaeton to a 1988 Jaguar XJS – with lots of retro vehicles in between. You’ll even have the opportunity to get eastbound and down with a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, similar to the one Burt Reynolds drove in “Smokey and the Bandit.”
Even if you’re not in the market for a classic car, this slice of auto history is still something to see. Feel free to stop by and browse. The bidding action starts Friday, July 20 at 4 pm, with doors opening at noon. On Saturday doors will open at 8 am and the Auction starts at 10:00 am.
If cars don’t excite you, fear not, there’s still plenty of antiquing action in Cape’s downtown district. More than a dozen shops hold everything from retro glassware to vintage signs to dapper hats.
As an added bonus, if you get hungry, our downtown eateries have whatever you are in the mood for – Italian, Cajun or even homemade Ice Cream.
