All About Cape: Cape Comic Con and More

Saban's Power Rangers

It’s Morphin time! Four “Mighty Morphin Power Ranger” actors are coming to Cape Comic Con on April 26 thru 28 at the Osage Centre. And they are bringing “Pokémon” and “Sailor Moon” voice actress Veronica Taylor, Marvel comics artist Greg Land and professional wrestler “Road Warrior Animal”. It is one of Cape’s biggest events, with more than 100 booths offering memorabilia, games, apparel and more. Plus, Comic Con hosts LEGO workshops, a trivia night, a movie screening, writing and painting workshops and a “Godzilla” presentation. Come dressed in your favorite costume. There is a contest on Saturday afternoon.

To say it’s an exciting week would be an understatement. The Show Me Center is bringing a little abracadabra to town with The Illusionists – Live from Broadway at 6:30 pm on Sunday, April 28. Whether you believe in magic or not, you are going to be surprised, thrilled and ultimately amazed. Defying death is an everyday occurrence for these sophisticated illusionists.

Across town, the River Campus pays tribute to iconic playwright William Shakespeare with a performance of “Othello,” running from April 24 to 28 at the Rust Flexible Theatre. Even if you don’t know the story, you have more than likely heard the expression “green-eyed monster” to describe jealousy. It is a phrase that came from this 17th-century play and remained in the English language.

When you are ready for fresh air and getting your hands dirty, Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers for their Friends of the Park Day to help plant flower beds, mulch playgrounds and paint equipment at local parks. It starts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at Capaha Park, and you’ll get a free T-shirt for helping out.
