KRCU Public Radio Reporter/InternJosh Seabaugh has been at Southeast since 2018. While journalism was his second major, he's found his home is truly in this field. He is a part of 'Redhawk Rhythm', Southeast's a capella group. During his downtime, he watches shows or plays games with his girlfriend, who has been his biggest supporter.

In 2022, the Cape Girardeau Public Library turned 100 years old. To celebrate a full century since it first opened, the Public Library hosted a Centennial Open House. The open house took place on June 15, the same day it opened in 1922.

On April 2nd, Air Force JROTC Cadets from Cape Central High School' completed a 14-mile memorial hike in honor of the Bataan Death March, which took place during World War II 80 years ago. On May 9th, after gathering community support from individuals, recruiters, and businesses, raised $1800 to donate to the VFW Post 3838 Veterans Relief Fund.

On May 18th, entrepreneurs from all over the country gathered at the Marquette Hotel building in Cape Girardeau. They gathered as Codefi and Cape Chamber hosted the Center On Rural Innovation Network Summit or CORI— a national digital economic development organization, which includes 21 rural communities from across the country.

'Leadership Missouri' is a program focused on growing communities by enhancing the skills of emerging leaders. In May 2022, the City Administrator of Perryville was selected to join the statewide leadership-based program.

In Cape Girardeau, many roads throughout the city are in great need of repair after heavy local and regional use has taken its toll. However, thanks to the Transportation Trust Fund, certain roads will be repaired over the next 3 years with over 27 million dollars worth of repairs.

Educators and labor leaders are voicing concerns about a bill in the Missouri Legislature. It's being called the "Parents' Bill of Rights" but critics say parents already have their rights within the public school system, and warn these measures might only serve to burden educators.

Newly-Elected Mayor of Cape Girardeau, Stacy Kinder, talked about upcoming and ongoing plans for the city. Among the topics were ARPA funds, which will be used to demolish dangerous buildings; usage of a newly implemented system called 'ShotSpotter', and use of MoDOT's TEAP Grant to study the traffic in Cape Girardeau.
