Daria Lawson

KRCU Public Radio Reporter/Host/Producer

Daria Lawson is a 2021 Graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication, with a Minor in Music.

During her time at Southeast Daria worked as a reporter for the Southeast Arrow, writing news stories and producing podcasts. Daria’s podcast series ‘De-Composing’ which breaks down music world phenomenon, won a Missouri Broadcast Educators Association Award. In 2020 she received first place in the Podcast category for her episode ‘Ear Adaptation’.

Daria began her career in radio in 2020, working as an intern for Huntley Community Radio 101.5, sound engineering, editing, recording, and most notably creating Daria’s Britpop Broadcast. The weekly music-history show explores a new musical theme in the reigning British music genre of the 1990’s, Britpop.

Daria began working at KRCU in May of 2021 as a state and local news reporter, as well as a host of NPR’s ‘Morning Edition’. In the future, Daria hopes to work internationally and continue her career in Radio, Podcasting, and sound production.
